Misja Helsloot was born on 21 January 1973 in Rotterdam. At nineteen he started buying records and throwing his own parties, spending six years building a name for himself in the Dutch scene before his big break arrived.
In 1998, a friendship with DJ Tiësto led to Misja being handed the reins of the very first In Trance We Trust compilation on Black Hole Recordings — the mix series that would go on to define a generation of uplifting trance. The release took off across the Netherlands, Israel and Norway, and the bookings followed.
He founded C4 Records, a sublabel of Basic Beat Recordings, in 1999, then co-founded Gesture Music with Roland K and Maarten van Oosten in 2001. His productions and remixes have since landed on Armada Music, Future Sound of Egypt and Black Hole Recordings, alongside further volumes of the In Trance We Trust series.
Misja released his debut artist album, All Inclusive, in 2009 with collaborators Signum, Sied van Riel and Leon Bolier, followed by What The Helsloot in 2019. He's played main stages at Trance Energy, Dance Valley and A State of Trance, and launched his own Create event series across Dutch cities in 2006.
In 2022 he teamed up with Michael de Kooker to launch Hel:sløwed, landing releases on A State of Trance and Spinnin' Records — proof that, more than 25 years on, the uplift is still the point.
